Day of Abai Qunanbaiuly's Poetry
Abai Qunanbaiuly (1845-1904) was a great Kazakh poet, writer, public figure, cultural reformer, and the founder of modern Kazakh literature. Abai's literary and aesthetic heritage is a national pride of the Kazakh people.
In 2012, 10 million tons of oil was produced at the Karakuduk field in Mangistau region. The oilfield is located 365 km northeast of Aktau. Oil was discovered there in 1972. However, the commercial field development began only a quarter-century later, in 1998. In 2003, the first million tons of oil was produced.
In 2016, Qunanbai film has been selected for the 12th Kazan International Muslim Film Festival. Only 60 of 700 applied films from 33 countries passed the official selection.
In 2017, the episode of National Geographic Channel's Megastructures series Megastructures: Astana. City of Future premiered in 22 languages in more than 40 countries. The National Geographic team made a documentary about the construction of large buildings in Astana. The remarkable thing is that Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev also took part in the filming of the episode and told about the history of the country's new capital, which was built in the middle of the Kazakh steppes almost from scratch.
The same day the State of Qatar eased its visa policies for citizens of 80 countries, including Kazakhstan, India, Russia and China. The citizens of Kazakhstan can now stay in the Qatar peninsula, having a 30-day free visa with an option to extend it for another 30 days.
Dimash Kudaibergenov received a prize at Golden Melody Awards in Hong Kong that very day. It was 2017 I Am a Singer contest in China where the young Kazakh singer gained the world popularity taking the second place.
Consul General of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Hong Kong SAR, PRC, Tolegen Ismailov, was born 35 years ago (1983).
He graduated from the Ablai Khan Kazakh University of International Relations and World Languages with degrees in political science and economics (2005, 2009).
Tolegen Ismailov raised through the ranks of an Assistant and Attaché at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the Minister-Counsellor of the Kazakh Embassy in Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro.
He has served as Consul General of Kazakhstan in Hong Kong since February 2018.
He has been awarded the Order of Kurmet (the Order of Nobility) (2013); the Medal of the 20th Anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Kazakhstan (2011); Letters of Appreciation of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
