Independence Day of Turkmenistan is marked on October 27. The country gained its independence from the USSR in 1991. On October 27, 1991, the Supreme Council of the Turkmen SSR adopted the law on independence and the governance form of Turkmenistan leading to the foundation of the Independence Day in the country.
The World Day for Audiovisual Heritage is on every October 27th chosen by UNESCO in 2005 to raise awareness of the significance and preservation risks of recorded sound and audiovisual documents (films, sound and video recordings, radio and television programmes).

2015 – Kazakh astronaut Aidyn Aimbetov is named the official Ambassador of the EXPO 2017 International Exhibition.
2017 – Kazakh President at the time Nursultan Nazarbayev signs the decree on the transition of the Kazakh alphabet to Latin graphics.
2018 – The film Amre wins the Silver Screen Award at the Hollywood Film Festival held in Los Angeles.
