United Nations Day
October 24 is celebrated as United Nations Day. The day is celebrated to make known to the people of the world the aims and achievements of the United Nations and to gain their support for« its work.
World Polio Day is on October 24 to provide an opportunity to highlight global efforts toward a polio-free world and honor the tireless contributions of those on the frontlines in the fight to eradicate polio from every corner of the globe.
World Development Information Day is celebrated on October 24 instituted by the United Nations General Assembly in 1972 coinciding with United Nations Day on October 24. The General Assembly had the object of drawing the attention of world public opinion each year to development problems and the necessity of strengthening international co-operation to solve them.
Disarmament Week is observed from October 24 to 30 each year by decision of the UNGA special session on disarmament and the World Peace Council in 1978.
Day of Remembrance for the victims at Baikonur cosmodrome
The disaster occurred on October 24, 1960 at Baikonur test range during the development of the Soviet Intercontinental ballistic missile R-16. An explosion occurred when the second stage engine ignited accidentally, killing 76 military and technical personnel.

2019 – The new building of the Embassy of Belarus in Kazakhstan is unveiled in the city of Nur-Sultan. The modern complex includes an administrative building housing a reception hall, conference hall, meeting premises, offices for staff, library as well as a residential building housing 10 apartments, 2 hotel rooms, underground parking, and residence of the Belarusian Ambassador.
