President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev, who was reelected on 4th December 2005, officially assumed office as the Head of State on January 11, 2006. The swearing-in ceremony was held in Ak Orda, a new presidential residence. During the ceremony, the song Menin Qazaqstanym was performed for the first time as the national anthem. It should be noted that Nursultan Nazarbayev is a co-author of the lyrics to the anthem of the Republic of Kazakhstan. From that day on, when the anthem is sung at official ceremonies, those present should stand up and put their right hands to the left side of their chests as the anthem rules changed.
In 2010, it was decided that the dwellers of the Altai Territory of Russia will create "Russian Village" ethnographic museum complex in the regional center of East Kazakhstan region, and Kazakh nationals will build "National Kazakh Village" ethnocultural complex in Barnaul, the center of the Altai Territory. Both projects are a part of the program of mutual cooperation of neighboring regions.
In 2011, Bolat Sharipov directed Okiletti Yelshi (meaning 'Ambassador Plenipotentiary' in Kazakh), a documentary film about the first Kazakh professional diplomat Nazir Torekulov, who was the first USSR ambassador in the Islamic world. The purpose of the film is to tell contemporaries about the prominent statesman, whose achievements were not duly acknowledged in his time.
In 2012, the Fund for Problem Loans was established. The common shareholder is the National Bank of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and the preference shareholder is the State Property and Privatization Committee of the Kazakh Ministry of Finance. The fund is mainly aimed at implementing measures for improving the quality of loan portfolios of second-tier banks in accordance with the requirements of the authorized body's regulatory legal acts.
In 2013, gymnasts from Astana circus Dariya Abdukhasova and Dana Ryspekova won the Grand-Prix of the International Circus Festival - the Golden Clown award. In Enschede, the Netherlands, the girls competed with the world's best circus performers.
In 2017, the working group on the issues of redistribution of powers between the government branches was formed by the decision of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The Head of the Executive Office of the President took on leadership of the working group. It included representatives of the Parliament, the Government, the Supreme Court of the Republic of Kazakhstan, other government authorities, as well as representatives of legal and scientific expert communities.
