World Water Monitoring Day established in 2003 by America’s Clean Water Association is marked on September 18. It aims to promote public awareness and involvement in protecting water resources and to empower citizens to carry out basic monitoring of their local water bodies.
International Read an E-Book Day initiated by OverDrive is celebrated each year on September 18 with the aim to promote e-book reading.
1975 – The Kapchagay Porcelain Factory is launched in Almaty region. The factory is the only one to produce porcelain items in Kazakhstan.
1992 – The State-owned TV and Radio Company Kazakhstan is established under the Cabinet of Ministers of Kazakhstan. The Company aims at further improving TV and radio broadcasting, TV and radio control systems, promote creativity and content of programmes as well as to inform the population about political, economic and cultural issues.
1998 – The Agency for Civil Service Affairs – a state body dealing with corruption issues and quality of public services as well as the Academy of Public Administration, which is the only educational establishment in the country in the sphere of public administration and trains as well as provides skills development training to public officials, are set up.
2014 – The World Boxing Academy of the International Boxing Association (AIBA) is opened in Almaty region. The Academy is located in Ile Alatau’s foothills.
2016 – Then-President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev takes part in the opening ceremony of the 12-thousand-seat ice palace Almaty Arena.
2017 – Kazakhstan backs up the political declaration on the reform of the United Nations.
2017 – Kazakhstani athlete Olga Rypakova wins gold in long jump at the 5th Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games in Ashkhabad.
2018 – Six directors, including Kazkahstani Emir Baigazin, win the first residency fellowships from the Hollywood foreign press association, established in partnership with Film independent.
