International Day of Families
The annually celebrated day was proclaimed by the United Nations General Assembly with resolution A/RES/47/237 in 1993.
1989 - A monument to Shoqan Walikhanov, a prominent Kazakh ethnographer and historian, is unveiled in Almaty.
1992 - The Republic of Armenia, the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Russian Federation, the Republic of Tajikistan, and the Republic of Uzbekistan ink the Collective Security Treaty in Tashkent.
- Kazakhstan establishes its National Nuclear Center and Atomic Energy Agency.
1999 - The Agency for the Protection of State Secrets is created in Kazakhstan.
2009 - Berlin hosts the grand opening of the Office of the Center for International Programs in Germany and Continental Europe within the framework of the Year of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the Federal Republic of Germany.
2012 - In Beijing, the Ministry of Culture and Information of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Ministry of Culture of the People's Republic of China, and the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Kyrgyz Republic sign the Memorandum on the Joint Nomination of Historical and Cultural Sites on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
2015 - At the the Rallye des Pharaons in Egypt, the driver of the Astana Motorsports team of the Astana Presidential Club finish second and first in the T2 and T4 categories, respectively.
2016 - "The Wonders of Kazakhstan" exhibition by talented Kazakh photographers opens at the Carrousel du Louvre in Paris.
