ASTANA. KAZINFORM - Kazinform's Timeline is the one-stop shop where you can learn about historical events for the 18th of March. See what notable events happened throughout Kazakhstan's history on March 18.

The Republican Center of Space Communication of Kazakhstan was established in 2004. Today the Center is the sole enterprise on Kazakhstan's telecommunication market. Its specialists are working on the creation of the first Kazakhstani orbital satellite fleet for communication and TV broadcast purposes on the territory of the country and neighboring states.

In 2013, the Society Of Foreign Consuls in New York during its annual Women's Award Ceremony honored 12 women from all over the world, including Kazakhstan's Dana Kapparova, for their outstanding professional achievements and contribution to community empowerment. Initiated in 2011 by Consul General of the Republic of Kazakhstan Raushan Yesbulatova, the reception in celebration of Women's Day was so successful that it was established as an annual celebration. Since then every year the Consulate General of the Republic of Kazakhstan graciously carries the flag of organizers.

The Union of Kazakh diplomats was established in 2016. The Union is thought to contribute to the implementation of Kazakhstan's foreign policy, to protect rights and interests of the members of the Union and to strengthen continuity between the generations of Kazakh diplomats.

In 2016, the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev, was awarded a special Order of the United World Wrestling (UWW).

In 2017, 28 athletes from Kazakhstan took part in Special Olympics World Winter Games where they won 7 gold, 7 silver, and 4 bronze medals. Special Olympics is the world's largest sports organization for children and adults with intellectual disabilities. It is the main organizer of the World Special Olympic Games. Special Olympics has been organizing sports competitions for more than 45 years. Over 4 million people from 180 countries have taken part in the movement over these years.

An exhibition of handicrafts by Iranian masters opened in the Central State Museum of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Almaty. The event was held within the framework of the Colors of Nauryz festival which was aimed at introducing Kazakhstanis to the culture and art of Iran.

In 2017, Kazakh boxers Azamat Isakulov, Abilkhan Amankul, Vassiliy Levit, and Kamshybek Kunkabayev won the gold medals of the annual Chemistry Cup Tournament in Germany. The Chemistry Cup Tournament established in 1970, is often called a mini world championship, as it brings together boxers from all continents.
