M5.0 quake hits southwestern Japan, no tsunami warning issued
TOKYO. KAZINFORM An earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 5.0 struck Japan's southwestern prefecture of Kumamoto on Thursday, the weather agency said. No tsunami warning was issued, Kyodo reports.
The quake, which measured lower 6 on Japan's seismic intensity scale of 7, hit the region about 6:10 p.m., the agency said.
