Kazakhstan celebrates Eid al-Fitr

Eid falls on the first day of Shawwal, the month that follows Ramadan in the Islamic calendar. It is the holiday of forgiveness and mercy. On this day, it is important to cleanse the soul of insults and malice in order to meet the beginning of the new month in peace and harmony.
It is believed that Muslims around the world receive rewards from Allah after the strict fasting.
People put on their best clothes, serve delicious meals and visit each other and share the joy of the holiday. Common greetings during this holiday are the Arabic greeting 'Eid Mubārak ("Blessed Eid") or 'Eid Sa'eed ("Happy Eid").
