Kazatomprom National Atomic Company was established in 1997. It is Kazakhstan's national operator for the imports and exports of uranium, rare metals, and nuclear fuel for nuclear power plants. The sole shareholder of the company is Samruk-Kazyna National Welfare Fund JSC. Since 2009, Kazakhstan has been the world's leader in terms of natural uranium production.

The headquarters of the Muslim Committee for Human Rights in Central Asia was opened in Almaty in 2005. Its mission is to protection rights of citizens regardless of that national, religious or political background.

In 2009, during excavations near Karaganda city, archeologists of the Karaganda State University unearthed objects dating back to the Saka period (more than 2000 years ago): an iron stirrup, a saddle ring, an arrowhead and a belt buckle belonging to a warrior.

Nadine Krakov Collection, an American online store, put the world's most expensive skullcap up for sale on eBay in 2012. It was sewn in Kazakhstan in the 17th century. The reserve price of the ancient headdress decorated with precious stones (7-carat pink diamonds, 3-carat rubies, 4-carat sapphires, and natural pearls) and gold embroidery was $15,500.

In 2014, a six-year-old girl from Almaty Sofi Manasyan won a gold statuette and a special prize «Golden Hope» at a talent show in Austria.

The same year for the first time ever Kazakhstan was invited to participate in the Global Youth Policy Forum in Baku, Azerbaijan.

In 2016, rising star of the Kazakh ballet and the leading soloist of the Astana Opera House Bakhtiyar Adamzhan won the Grand Prix of the 5th International Istanbul Ballet Competition in Turkey. The competition brought together ballet dancers from Kazakhstan, Russia, Australia, Brazil, Bulgaria, Japan, Canada, South Africa, South Korea, and other countries.

Dombra duet Bastau from Kazakhstan scooped gold in the Performing Arts category at the World Championships Olympic in 2018.
