In 1940, the Kazakh State Teachers' Institute of Foreign Languages (now Ablai Khan Kazakh University of International Relations and World Languages) was established.

The Joint Statement on the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations between the Republic of Kazakhstan and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland was signed in Almaty in 1992.

In 1993, the Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan "On General Conscription and Military Service" was adopted. This law, among other things, defines military ranks in the newly created Armed Forces of the country. The first Minister of Defense of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Sagadat Nurmagambetov (Hero of Soviet Union, Hero of Kazakhstan), was first to be awarded the rank of Army General the same year.

In 2010, Kazakhstani scientists developed a method to obtain ‘artificial skin', cell transplants for regeneration of damaged skin.

In 2011, President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev signed the Law "On the Status of Nazarbayev University, Nazarbayev Intellectual Schools, and Nazarbayev Foundation".

The same day the expedition of Kazakhstani alpinists led by USSR Honored Coach Yervand Ilinskiy planted the Flag of the 7th Asian Winter Games at Peak Khan-Tengri. The 7th Asian Winter Games were successfully hosted by Astana and Almaty in January and February 2011.

In 2012, Kazakh citizen Marat Sarsenbayev was elected to the United Nations Human Rights Committee.

In 2015, the APB title belt was delivered from Seoul to Astana. Timur Kulibayev, President of the Kazakhstan Boxing Federation, AIBA Vice President for APB, handed the belt to Berik Abdrakhmanov.

In 2017, an exploratory survey expedition discovered a large deposit of magnetite ores in Karabalyk district, Kostanay region. The estimated reserves are 30 million tons.

In 2018, the students of a Nazarbayev Intellectual School, Bulbul Khalmaan and Madina Serik, developed Latin Translator Dictionary, a mobile application that converts a Kazakh text from Cyrillic to Latin-based alphabet.
